Characteristics of successful people

I love to read….

Ok, I love audio books!!!! I love to wear 1 ear bud while woking on clients, and listen to a good podcast or good audio book!!!

I learn SOOOOOOO much with this little ear bud in my ear for 8-12 hours a day, 5 days a week.

I only put in one ear bud so if the client says something I car hear them. Also, when the client sees that I have in 1 ear bud, its also I kind way of letting them know during the procedure, we can’t chat!!! Win win!!

I listened to a really good book recently and it discussed business and the character of a good employee/business owner mindset. I wanted to share some keys skills with you!

“Without character, you will fail….”

You can have all the right skills, but without the right character you’ll fail.

So what are the key character traits of successful people?

1️⃣ Each person sees themselves as economic value. They see themselves as a priceless product.

Essentially we are confident in our abilities and what we bring to the table!! Know your worth!!!

2️⃣ Sees themselves as a hero not victim.

This one is REALLY important. OF COURSE there are times where people are the victim of certain situations, but……. The dont take the “victim” road. They take the hero road. No mater what’s throw in their way, they WILL overcome. They will find a way to make it though. They will have failures, and instead of having the “victim” mentality, they learn lessons and move on!

3️⃣ Knows how to de-escalate drama.

Drama cost energy, energy costs money. Drama can be an overreaction to criticism, an overreaction to failure or setback. Overreaction to somebody else’s behavior. A value driven person de escalates drama!

4️⃣Accepts feedback as a gift.

You need a routine where you get valuable feedback from others. You need to establish a feedback loop by choosing people that…..

1 have your best intentions at heart (these people are HARD to find. When you do, keep them close and pay them well!)

2 schedule meetings. During these meeting you’ll establish a routine set of questions. Questions like, “have you seen me act unprofessionally” ‘ “have you noticed that I’ve been missing something?”, “what am I doing that I can improve upon?”

5️⃣ Know the right way to engage conflict.

EXPECT conflict. Conflict actually means growth

Controls your emotions

Understand that you could actually be WRONG

6️⃣Be trusted and respected more than liked

What teams members MOST want, is clarity.

You need to set clear expectations

Accountability

Give rewards for good performance

Do not put your team in the “mind reading” business

Spend less time trying to be liked, and more time setting clear expectations. This will earn their respect.

7️⃣Have a strong bias towards action

Setting goals will NOT build your career. Accomplishing your goals will build your career

Most people dream up goals, but never take action

8️⃣Do not choose to be confused

If you ever get into a situation where you think you’re confused, stop and ask yourself “If I were not confused about this situation, the obvious action I should take would be what?”

You’ll be surprised how quickly an answer will come! Then make a timeframe/goal when it will done or accomplished

9️⃣Be relentlessly optimistic

People that are relentlessly optimistic set huge goals and recover fast from a set back. You lose you learn and you move on!

A value driven professional knows that relentless optimism gives them a higher percentage chance of experiencing more success in work and life

1️⃣0️⃣Have a growth mindset

A value driven professional approaches the world with a growth mindset, believing they were designed to grow and get better in every area of life
